The Qibla from Jeddah points toward the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah. Makkah is approximately 67 km along the great-circle path. Orient your prayer space so it faces this bearing before performing Salah.
Jeddah, on the eastern shore of the Red Sea, is Saudi Arabia's principal port and second-largest city with a population of roughly four million. For more than thirteen centuries it has served as the maritime gateway for pilgrims journeying to Mecca, just 70 km inland, and the city remains the air entry point for the majority of Hajj and Umrah travellers today. Its historic Al-Balad district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserves the distinctive coral-stone houses with carved wooden Roshan balconies built for merchant families during the Ottoman period. Modern Jeddah is known for the King Fahd Fountain on the Corniche — the tallest of its kind in the world — and for Masjid al-Rahmah, the "Floating Mosque" built on stilts over the Red Sea. As elsewhere in Saudi Arabia, Jeddah follows the Umm al-Qura calculation method and observes Arabia Standard Time (UTC+3). Its coastal climate is more humid than Mecca and Riyadh, but its low latitude keeps prayer times relatively stable across the year.
Prayer times shift gradually throughout the year as the sun's position changes. Read about the 10+ supported calculation methods and the astronomical math behind the schedule.
