Jakarta is the capital and largest city of Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority country — home to roughly 240 million Muslims, about 87% of the national population. The greater Jakarta metropolitan area on the northwest coast of Java holds more than 30 million people, and the city itself is the political, financial, and religious centre of the archipelago.
