ABOUT

About United Arab Emirates.

The United Arab Emirates, with a population of around 10 million across seven federated emirates, is one of the most international Muslim societies in the world β€” Emirati citizens form roughly 12% of the population, with the remainder drawn from across South Asia, the Arab world, the Philippines, East Africa, and Western diaspora. The country is constitutionally Muslim, with most Emirati citizens following the Maliki or Hanbali schools and the larger expatriate Muslim community following the schools of their home countries. Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, completed in 2007 with a capacity of over 40,000 worshippers and a deliberately pan-Islamic architectural programme, has become the country's principal religious landmark. Prayer times nationwide are issued by the UAE General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments using a method close to the Muslim World League standard. The country observes Gulf Standard Time (UTC+4) without daylight saving, and its low latitude (between 22Β° and 26Β° north) means very stable prayer schedules across the year.

CALCULATION

Prayer calculation in United Arab Emirates.

United Arab Emirates is predominantly Hanbali (Sunni), and the Dubai calculation method is used by default across the country. For Asr, the standard convention is applied β€” Asr begins when the shadow of an object equals its length. Fajr begins at astronomical twilight when the sun is below the horizon, and Isha begins after the red twilight has fully disappeared from the sky.
